2019 Marcoux
Wines from the famed Red Willow Vineyard are often some of the most distinctive produced in the state. Those who have been lucky enough to visit the site may immediately be transported back by this wine and its expansive scents and flavors of juicy red cherries, black currants, and blackberries, accompanied by hints of cedar and sagebrush, all carried seamlessly from start to finish by the mineral core and fine-grained structure characteristic of Red Willow. Named after one of the blocks from which these grapes were sourced (which was itself named after grower Mike Sauer’s mother), this wine is intense while still light and lively on the palate, finishing long after you swallow with lingering darker fruits and eastern-Washington desert aromatics.
