WINE CLUB ONLY (Spring 2023 Release)
Fermière (‘fair-me-air’ French for ‘female farmer’) is in part a tribute to Seven Hills Vineyard manager Sadie Drury and all the hard-working women growing, tending, and harvesting grapes in Washington State. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc dominate the blend, contributing expansive red and black currants, black cherries, and light green pepper notes to both the nose and palate. Given their relatively minor role in the blend, the Merlot and Malbec lend surprisingly strong influences of plums, blueberries, and dense blackberries to the experience, which is rounded out at start and finish by the recognizable violet floral hints and depth of the Petit Verdot. A light touch of new French oak provides lovely vanilla and caramel notes to the opening and supplements the predominantly softer structure characteristic of Seven Hills Vineyard.
